'Adverse possession' is defined as an actual and visible appropriation of the land commenced and continued under a claim of right that is inconsistent with and is hostile to the claim of another.
'Peaceable possession' is defined as possession of real property that is continuous and not interrupted by an adverse suit to recover the property. The land limitation statutes are uniformly phrased to limit the institution of a suit to recover real estate, as against a person in 'peaceable and adverse possession', to three, five, ten, or twenty-five years after accrual of the cause of action.
